3. Do I need to provide my own fabric?

No. Atelier Hopkins offers a wide variety of fabrics from numerous international fabric houses. In fact, it is preferred that you purchase your fabric through Atelier Hopkins as expert advice can be provided regarding the quality and the quantity necessary for each unique project; as well handling any returns and/or re-ordering from specific dye lots.

4. What is C.O.M. fee?

C.O.M. means “Client's Own Material.” This is a surcharge that an upholstery shop charges when a customer provides their own fabric for a project, instead of buying it from the shop. This fee helps the shop offset lost revenue from their fabric sales and covers additional labor, like inspecting the fabric for:

  • Flaws and imperfections

  • Incorrect rolling

  • Unsuitability for the project

  • Insufficient quantity

  • Complex or unpredictable behaviour

C.O.M. fees typically are typically $20-$30/yd of fabric.
